Asphalt Tip #1:

Extend The Life Of Your Asphalt With Sealcoating

Properly applied, commercial grade, asphalt sealcoating is the cheapest form of asphalt maintenance in Fredericton, NB. It costs a fraction of the cost of a new driveway or parking lot and easily doubles its life span.

Sealcoating also protects your asphalt surfaces from the elements, pitting from dirt, keeps it looking freshly installed longer, and makes it easier to clean and snow plow.

Asphalt Tip #2:

Oil Stains

If you or a visitor has a vehicle oil leak that drips on your New Brunswick asphalt driveway, clean it up right away.  Oil drips will penetrate and weaken your asphalt. Use a rag to clean up what you can. Then use mild household detergents like dish detergent, diluted vinegar, or TSP to clean and treat the rest. Do NOT use any solvent based cleaners because they will cause the very problem you are trying to prevent.

Asphalt Tip #3:

Cracks In Your Asphalt

Cracks can form for a variety of reasons. As soon as you see cracks starting to form, have them filled or repaired using our infrared asphalt repair technology to prevent further damage and extend the life of your residential or commercial asphalt in Fredericton, NB.  Although the asphalt crack filling materials an asphalt contractor uses are generally superior to store bought products, with time and effort store bought products can help extend asphalt life as well. If doing it yourself, make sure that asphalt cracks are clean and dry before filling and sealing them. Keep an eye on them and touch up as necessary. Water penetration is asphalt’s worst enemy.

Asphalt Tip #4:

Heat

In high summer temperatures of 25°C and above, be very cautious with heavy vehicles or machinery coming onto your Fredericton, NB, driveway.  The newer the asphalt the more susceptible to damage caused by weight and turning tires.  If you are having deliveries of lumber, refuse bins, concrete, and so forth, consider the temperatures and take precautions. In addition, campers, RV’s, trailer jack stands, and bike kick stands can sink into asphalt in these temperatures. Always put something under these items to prevent them from sinking into the asphalt.

Asphalt Tip #5:

Dirt

Keeping your residential or commercial asphalt surfaces clean not only enhances its appearance but prevents damage as well. Leaving sand, salt, and debris on your Fredericton, NB, asphalt, then driving on it grinds it into the asphalt and removes the top layer of binder that holds the aggregate together. Your precious asphalt will become pitted and vulnerable to water penetration, cracking, and serious damage. Eventually, your beautiful blacktop will start to fail prematurely and no one wants that.
